The second Diverse project at the fabulous Donut Creative Arts Studios in Chesterfield. Another load of talented young people from all backgrounds and from all over Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire came together for a week to create a 2 night show performed for an audience of 200 on each night. The project was funded and supported by Derbyshire County Council and The Broadway Cinema, Nottingham. There was the usual mix of Rap, Singing, Dancing, Drama, Animation and Fashion plus this time our young musicians were mentored by Symphonia Viva Orchestra and played LIVE on the night supporting all of the onstage performances. Once again a great time was had by all.

MEETING NEW FRIENDS

The project brought together students from 15 schools across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. The summer free holiday workshops provided young people of all ages with the opportunity to make new friends from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. Many are still friends today after such a fun time.

CONFIDENCE AND TEAMWORK

The young people involved had the opportunity to showcase their talents to a receptive audience and were able to develop confidence as performers and more importantly work as part of a team.

EXPERIENCE OF THE CULTURAL SECTOR

Many of the practitioners were chosen because they have experience of working within industry. Although the project was fun the steering group thought it was important to provide opportunities for young people to gain experience within the cultural sector.
